ANTIBACTERIAL COLOGNE

What is Cologne?

Cologne is a type of perfume consisting of a mixture of fragrant substances such as ethyl alcohol, water and lemon, flower or tobacco essence. Cologne, also known as the most widely used cosmetic material of all time, was first produced in 1709 by Italian Giovanni Paolo Feminis in Cologne.

80 Degrees Cologne

Alcohol degrees are determined according to the alcohol content. Generally, 70 degrees and 80 degrees colognes are used. The ethyl alcohol content of Cologne is 80-96%. The remaining part consists of water and essential oil. Cologne has an average half life of five years, and it does not deteriorate as long as it is closed and is keeped away from the sun. The reason for feeling refreshment after applying cologne is that the ethyl alcohol in it is volatile and it removes body heat while evaporating.

The most frequently used cologne types in our country are lemon cologne and lavender cologne.

The cases that emerged in Wuhan, China and were recently  seen in our country, increased the measures in terms of health. There is an increase in cologne sales with emergence of the virus in our country.

Antibacterial Cologne

Wearing a mask, washing hands with soap and using cologne containing alcohol helps for protection against the virus. The reason for feeling refreshment after applying cologne is that the ethyl alcohol in it is volatile and it removes body heat while evaporating. Scientific studies proved that cologne has anti-bacterial properties. Antibacterial cologne does not only have germicidal property, but it also prevents the spread of flu viruses. Experts recommend using cologne several times a day to prevent the spread of germs causing diseases such as flu.

There are several types of alcohol that have a lethal effect against microorganisms. The most commonly used types of alcohol are ethyl alcohol and isopropyl alcohol. Viruses die when exposed to 80 percent alcohol, so we can say that the most effective cologne is 80 degrees cologne.

Alcohols are said to be effective against bacteria, viruses and fungi. However, alcohol does not have a permanent effect on resistant bacteria species. If the alcohol concentration is below 50%, the germicidal effect decreases. The greatest effect is observed at concentrations in the range of 60% -90% depending on the type of microbe.
